When she started saying Mumma...

When she started saying mumma...
I was a stay at home mom for one year post the birth of my daughter. We live in a nuclear setup. So it was only me and my husband which means for the entire day I would be the only one with my daughter. I was always there for her when she needed me be it during the day or night. When she would wake up scared from sleep or she would fall again and again while learning to walk. She would feel hungry or thirsty. Or for that matter when I would be agitated with being a constant mommy she would still bear with me and change it all with just a smile.
She would remember her dad during the day and say Pa-Pa slowly but with utmost sweetness. I would tell her that Papa is in office. She would say Da-Da or Ba-Ba or Na-Na when we would point to their pictures for her. One year of my leave from work went by quickly. I resumed office with a heavy heart as leaving her at home was not easy. My mom came down to stay with us so that I could join office. Day 2 of my office, my mom told me that she was crying and constantly saying Mumma during her nap time. And it struck me that this was the first time that she ever called out Mumma(she had said this word before once but not in the sense to use it for me) and I was not there. Until now she never had to call me and say mumma as I was always there for her, before she could even feel the need to call me. This broke my heart into million pieces.
