The Forest of Enchantments
The book captures the story of Ramayana from the perspective of Sita. So the story is nothing new but slightly different angle. Although it was difficult to accept her dynamics with the rest of the characters but in parts it was an interesting read. My whole issue with the book initially was, accepting these dynamics which came across as a bit dramatized and completely humanised Sita as opposed to the perfect version of her I had in my mind since childhood. But once you accept it, it becomes an easier read. A few relationships, I had expected more buildup on - say Lakshman Sita or Hanuman Sita. The whole Ashok Vatika sequence was a bit stretched and lost my interest but the end was really impactful, when Sita finally stands up to set an example for the generation of women to come. I liked the book, but did not find it worth the hype.
