Captain underpants giving life lessons

The other day I was reading a book from “Captain underpants” series with my daughter. In that book there is a character named Mr. Kurrup who is the school principal; he hates kids. To that part my daughter instantly commented, how can a school principal hate children.” Why would somebody become a principal if he hates children, its like saying an astronaut hates going to the space?”, those were the thoughts of my 6yr old daughter. This made me think, its such an obvious perception but so many of us around are doing jobs that we don’t appreciate. Why we hate the jobs that we do, there can be multiple explanations to this- some hate the kind of work they are given in the organisations, some hate the work environment, some hate the pressure the workload puts on them, some hate the remuneration or appreciation(lack of it) they get for the work they do and some hate the inflexibility it offers. Also we have been made to feel that 9-5 job is not the cool thing now, so there is no sense of pride in doing one. Then why do it- may be lack of opportunities, lack of skill, financial dependence, risk averse behaviour,  the reasons could be several. It was not easy to make a 6yr old understand all this. I wish things were as simple as those in her head.
