Working from home Mom
Working from home again. I have been working remotely for as long as I could remember. I had my first daughter and opted to work from home. Soon after, covid followed and forced everyone to work from home. Now after my 2nd one, I again started working remotely. As a seasoned remote worker, I can tell you that it’s not as rosy as people feel. It does reduce the time and effort of travelling to office but takes a lot more in terms of juggling between the two worlds- personal and professional, for all day and every day. It allows you to be around your kids but that also means they would crave your attention while you are trying to pay attention in a call. You need to be present for them and also squeeze out time to fulfil professional commitments.
You thought it would assuage your guilt for not spending time with them but adds to the exhaustion manifold as you are continuously torn to make both work. What's the option then? Nothing! Motherhood is about being exhausted, guilty and unsure. It's hard, work from home is definitely hard. You just choose your hard.
