Birthday Celebration
Special occasions demand special celebration. It’s a social ritual that one has to follow to be able to answer the questions that follow every wish “So what plans for birthday/anniversary?” or “So what did you do on your birthday?”. I think celebrating birthdays, anniversaries or any similar occasion is just so overrated. It was all a scam started by the companies to increase consumerism and now it is so deeply ingrained in our brains that we know no other way to spend the day. Why can’t we just take some time off and laze around at home doing just nothing. After all time is such a big luxury these days.
Anyways conforming to the social norms, on my birthday we
decided to go for dinner. The choice of
the place was a no-brainer as my husband wanted to take me to Olive Bar & Bistro
ever since he went there with office colleagues. The place was a small, dark, quaint
place with quite loud music being played by a DJ- overall good ambiance. After waiting for 15 min we
got our table. We ordered a risotto and an OB Veg burger. The combination is a
bit weird and burger for dinner is not a classic choice but my love for burgers
does not care about that. Being from a middle class family there are certain
things that you can never get out of your system and one of it is ordering
drinks or dessert at an expensive restaurant. I feel dessert and drinks at
these places are a steal. So I just skim through the drinks menu just to see the
names of the different drinks and then keep it back. It took a little while for
our order and the bummer was that the music was so loud that you really cannot
have a conversation without increasing the voice decibels so we chose to just
enjoy the ambiance and listen to the music that was being played. When the
order arrived, we pounced on it like hungry animals. The risotto was good and even the burger but almost
invisible portions of the 2 slaws on the sides were a disappointment. When we
were half way through the dinner we started feeling that we would need to order
something else owing to the good appetite that both of us have. Thin crust veg pizza was the
obvious choice as my husband had so liked it the last time that he wanted me to
try it. By the time the pizza arrived we were almost regretting ordering it as
we were almost full. But we took it as a challenge. The night ended with
getting high on cheese loaded food.
