Made up magic
Woke up after yet another sleepless night—something that’s become routine since motherhood. My mind may have accepted it, but my skin, hair, and eyes clearly haven’t—they tell a very different story.
Had to head to the office, caught a glimpse of my tired, pigmented skin in the mirror… and reached for some makeup. And just like that—voilà—the narrative shifted. Dark circles softened, skin looked even, and suddenly I felt a little more put together.
Makeup really is one of humankind’s greatest inventions—it masks reality so effortlessly. It gives us a quiet sense of empowerment, helping us take on more while momentarily forgetting everything we’re already carrying. A little bit of magic that is both a boon and a bane.
